Fr. Fitzpatrick grew up in Norwood, Massachusetts. After graduating from Xaverian Brothers High School, he attended St. John's Seminary College in Brighton. He then worked in a group home first with juveniles and second doing rehabilitation, teaching children who had suffered a traumatic brain injuries. Afterwards, he reentered formation for the priesthood in 1999 and went to St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland for the fall semester of that year. Upon graduation from “The Mount”, he was sent to serve at St. Mary's Parish in Mansfield Massachusetts as a transitional deacon.

Fr. Fitzpatrick's ordination to the priesthood was on October 11, 2003 and he continued to serve as St. Mary's as Parochial Vicar as well as chaplain of Bishop Feehan High School for three years. In 2008 he was assigned chaplain to UMass Dartmouth. When he left his assignment in Dartmouth, he was named parochial vicar at Corpus Christi, Sandwich and Parochial Administrator of St. Joan of Arc Parish, Orleans from January-June 2014. Parochial Vicar

      Spanish Community

I am Father Marcelo da Silva Religious of the Institute of the Incarnate Word in Diocesan Experience in the Diocese of Fall River; I was born in Brazil in the city of Santos in the State of Sao Paulo. From a family of 4 brothers, I studied philosophy in Brazil, and theology in Italy where I was ordained a Priest on June 2, 2012 in Rome.

For some years I served in Brazil, in the Dioceses of Santo Amaro and also in the Archdiocese of Vitoria in Espirito Santo.

Here in the United States, I worked in the Archdiocese of Chicago, in a Hispanic Community Parish, then here in the Diocese of Fall River in the city of New Bedford, where I worked in the parishes of St. Anthony of Padua, with the Hispanic community and in the Immaculate Conception Parish with the Portuguese community. I am very happy to be able to help Fathers Mike and Marcos here in St. Francis Xavier Parish.

I love visiting the sick and bringing Holy Communion to them. For Jesus is the Source of our lives. He died on a Cross for each one of us.

My devotional saints are St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina and St. John Paul II.

I also have a very deep devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
My motto is “always more and more to bring souls to God”.
Always remember that a family that prays together stays together

    • Fr. Thiago Santos
      Parochial Vicar

      Brazilian Community

Father Thiago Santos was born in Brazil in 1996, the son of Sergio Santana Santos and the late Laura Teles Menezes Santos. At the age of ten, he received his First Communion, during which he became very actively involved in his home parish as a member of the children's choir and the Missionary Childhood program. Inspired by the exemplary faith of his parents, sister, and godparents, Father Santos nurtured his spiritual growth and embarked eventually during his adolescence upon his priestly vocation.

Following his high school graduation, with the support of his parents, Father Santos was accepted into the seminary in his hometown of Aracaju, Brazil, where he dedicated five years to the study of propedeutics, philosophy, and one year of theology. In 2020, he transferred to the Diocese of Fall River, where he continued and completed his theological studies and pursued a Master of Arts in Theology at the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Newark.

Father Thiago Santos expresses great joy in sharing the gift of his priesthood as he says: “the priesthood of Jesus Christ it’s my most precious treasure, which is not mine, it’s His”. Fluent in three languages, he has been appointed by the bishop to lead the Brazilian apostolate of our parish as he also serves as parochial vicar.
